A Mitchell man has been found guilty of manslaughter in the death of his five week old daughter.
Thirty-seven-day old Skyla Rivet suffered blunt force head trauma in her parents' Mitchell apartment on Jan. 14, 2010. Three days later the infant died in hospital.
Rivet's lawyer argues it was possible the baby was injured when the mother, Amanda Buck, was holding her.
Buck has maintained that her daughter seemed healthy, and that Rivet, her common law husband, helped her care for her and was a good father.
Police had charged 27-year-old Robert Rivet with second degree murder.
Jury deliberations began Thursday the jury delivered its guilty of manslaughter verdict about 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. A sentencing date will be set next month. Rivet could be sentenced to a term ranging from months to life in prison
