OPP are investigating a fatal crash Friday night just south of Grand Valley.

Two SUV’s and a commercial van collided on County Road 109 at 9th Line around 6:30 p.m.

A 58-year-old man from East Garafraxa, who has not yet been identified, was killed in the crash.

Five others were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Residents in the area aren’t surprised something like this has happened as speed is an on-going issue.

“I have seen many accidents right at that corner,” says Alex Cole, an employee at the nearby Cole’s Country Market.

“Even when you’re travelling on the highway there are still people passing you all the time,” says Peter Irvine. “It’s a very busy road, especially on weekends and Friday nights. People are going to their cottages and trailers.”

They say something needs to be done to address this dangerous stretch of road.

“Two years ago a transport truck went through the stop sign here in the fog right through the guardrails,” remembers Irvine.

Police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to Friday’s crash.

No word yet on charges.
