Foul play is not suspected in the case of a man fatally struck by a passenger train Wednesday night, Perth County OPP say.

Around 9:20 p.m., police were called to the rail tracks about half a kilometre west of Shakespeare after learning that a person had been hit by the Via Rail passenger train.

The man, a 27-year-old Stratford resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The eastbound train, which was carrying about 50 passengers, was stopped for about three hours before continuing on to its destination.
