A 32-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder following an incident at a long-term care home in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police officers were called to the AR Goudie home on Frederick Street around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Once there, they found a 56-year-old man dead at the home.

He was identified Tuesday as Ronald McCabe.

Adam McCabe, a Waterloo resident, was taken into custody. He appeared in court Tuesday.

Police say they believe the death was a “targeted incident” and that Adam McCabe, who was a visitor to the facility, knew Ronald McCabe.

A spokesperson for PeopleCare, which runs the AR Goudie home, called the death a "tragic incident," and said it didn't involve any staff members or other residents.
