He has now been identified as Jordan Langelier.

On Wednesday officers responded to reports of an assault at Guelph Central Station on Carden Street.

Just before 9 p.m. they found a 63-year-old man, who worked as a station security guard, suffering from life threatening injuries.

Police aren't saying if - or what - weapon was used.

The man was taken to Guelph General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

He worked for the private security company GardaWorld.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones of our colleague during this difficult time. We are providing our full cooperation to the local Guelph police authorities in their investigation.”

Langelier was arrested at the scene of the incident and has now been charged with second-degree murder.

"We're asking that if there were any witnesses, if anyone saw the altercation happen, even if was just a portion of it, to please come forward, please reach out to the Guelph Police Service," says Const. Kyle Grant.

He says there's been ongoing issues in downtown Guelph and the train station.

"People who are having issues with substance abuse, as far as drugs or alchol, and just homelessness in general," says Const. Grant. "There have been issues with unwanted persons on the premises and also inside the building."

Langelier appeared for bail hearing on Thursday.
