It’s been almost four weeks since a brutal killing in Rockwood east of Guelph. The man charged with the murder appeared in court.

Xhevahir Myftari, 36, has a video apperance on Thursday morning. The apperance was brief and he he said very little.  In court he request was made for a German or Albanian interpreter for future proceedings.

Neighbours say a for sale sign now posted at the house on Gamble lane, went up last week. The home is where the body of Xhuljeta Vlashi was discovered. It’s reported she'd been stabbed to death. Julia, as she was known by friends, was a dental hygienist.

Michelle Garcia, "I only saw her come around 7:15 every day at the mailbox in front of my house at the exact same time on the phone driving home from work and my mother in law actually got a ride from her twice to work."

She and other neighbors say the accused, Myftari is the brother in the law of the victim.

Police however haven't confirmed that,  but say the two knew each other and that Myftari was living in the house at the time of the crime.

Myftari will be represented by a Toronto lawyer, but lawyer David Doney as an agent today to move the case along. The case has been adjourned for two week.

"The defence counsel is seeking disclosure surrounding the evidence against his client. It's anticipated a significant part of that disclosure will become available over the next few weeks and of course they’ll want to review that and see where that takes them." says Doney.

The next court appearance set in this case is for October 4, when Myftari returns again by video.
