More snow on the way, but the deep freeze is set to break before the week is out

There is more snow expected in the London region, CTV Meteorologist Julie Atchison has the details on the rise in temperature just in time for the weekend.

Although there are a few days left in this cold snap, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

"Over the next seven days, we will break out of the deep freeze and temperatures are set to edge closer to where we should be for this time of year for the weekend," assured CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

And while that’s the good news, the bad news is that there’s more snow headed our way on Wednesday, “increasing amounts of cloud heading into the afternoon with the chance of some light afternoon of flurries,” warned Atchison.

Don’t forget your scarf on the way out the door this morning, that deep freeze is still with us for the time being, “Frigid cold affecting most of the province heading out the door this morning - feeling like minus 30,” said Atchison.

Heading into the evening snowfall will start to accumulate, especially in the more northern parts of the region - in Bruce and Grey County. Despite the frigid temperatures, and chances for snow, there is likely to be lots of sunshine to carry us through.

Wednesday: Mainly sunny. Increasing cloudiness late in the morning then 30 per cent chance of flurries in the afternoon. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning. High minus 13. Wind chill minus 33 in the morning and minus 22 in the afternoon. Risk of frostbite. UV index 1 or low.

Wednesday night: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. Wind southwest 20 km/h. Temperature steady near minus 12. Wind chill near minus 22.

Thursday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 8.

Friday: Sunny. High minus 8.

Saturday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 4.
