Coldest temperatures in years to be felt this week

This week, we’ll see the coldest temperatures we’ve seen in years, according to Environment Canada.

Sunday sees close to average conditions for this time of year, with cloudy conditions and a chance of flurries and a high of minus 8 degrees. However, it will feel like minus 15 with the wind chill.

The drop in temperature begins overnight with a low of 15, feeling like minus 24.

On Monday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a few flurries in the afternoon. It’ll get colder as Monday progresses, with temperature falling to minus 16 in the afternoon, feeling like minus 26.

Similar conditions are expected Tuesday with a high of minus 17.

The deep freeze starts to ease Thursday, with a forecast high of minus 8.

Sunday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries this morning. A few flurries beginning near noon. Local amount 2 cm. Wind up to 15 km/h. High minus 8. Wind chill near minus 15.

Sunday night: A few flurries ending this evening then partly cloudy. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40. Low minus 15. Wind chill minus 15 this evening and minus 24 overnight.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. 60 per cent chance of flurries in the afternoon. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40. Temperature falling to minus 16 in the afternoon. Wind chill near minus 26.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 17.

Wednesday: Sunny. High minus 17.

Thursday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 8.

Friday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 5.
