Wilfrid Laurier women's soccer midfielder Alyssa Lagonia of Kitchener has been named the OUA Female Athlete of the Week.
Lagonia had an excellent start to the season as she powered the Golden Hawks to a perfect 2-0. A CIS First Team All-Canadian in 2010, Lagonia scored two goals and set up two others in Laurier's 4-0 season-opening win over the York Lions.
She followed that by scoring the opening goal against the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, before setting up her team's third goal in the Golden Hawks' 3-1 victory over Guelph. Her three goals are tops in the OUA.
Lagonia and her Laurier teammates will be back in action this weekend when the Lady Hawks hit the road to battle Western and Windsor.
