Four people are facing charges following a police raid of a marijuana dispensary in Kitchener.

The raid happened Wednesday at KW Dispensary on Victoria Street North near Lackner Boulevard.

“These dispensaries are illegal unless they have been authorized (by Health Canada),” Insp. Mike Haffner said in an interview.

Waterloo Regional Police said they moved in and seized $6,700 worth of marijuana after sending the business several cease-and-desist letters.

The dispensary’s owner disputes that, claiming he only received one letter – after which he ensured that everyone he was selling marijuana to had a licence to purchase it.

Four people, including the owner, are facing charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.
