Police are investigating a Kitchener homicide.
Just after midnight Sunday, emergency crews responded to a report of a man lying on the ground behind Cameron Heights Collegiate on Stirling Avenue South between Charles and Courtland Streets.
The body of a teen male has been taken to Hamilton for an autopsy. Police are reluctant to comment on what could have caused his death before those results are in.
Chris Downey, a Staff Sergeant with Waterloo Regional Police says "It looked like there had been some element of trauma to this person, so we are treating this death as suspicious at this time."
Investigators are looking at the video footage not just from the area where the body was discovered but also from five other security cameras that surround the high school.
Those who live near by are talking, many curious what could have caused his death and who did it and still others wondering how they didn't hear a thing.
Stephanie Varieur says it was 9:30 Sunday morning when detectives knocked on her door. "Police just asked us to take the dog out of the backyard so they could look for evidence."
An 18-year-old suspect has been taken into custody and been charged with manslaughter.
