Waterloo Regional Police say last Friday wasn’t the first time they were called to 38 Country Hill Drive because of Ager Hasan.

Hasan is accused of killing 22-year-old Melinda Vasilije, his ex-girlfriend who lived at 38 Country Hill and whose body was found in her apartment early Friday morning, by stabbing her to death.

She had moved into that apartment in early April.

Police say they were called to the Kitchener apartment on April 3 because of a “domestic-related incident” involving Hasan and Vasilije.

The 24-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for breaking and entering, as well as assault.

He was later released from custody under court orders to stay out of Waterloo Region and to not have any contact with Vasilije.

Hasan is now wanted for second-degree murder on a Canada-wide warrant, although authorities believe he has fled the country.

Police have said that he was seen crossing into the United States at Fort Erie at 5:44 a.m. last Friday.

Later that morning, a man matching his description was allegedly seen stealing a licence plate off of a vehicle parked at a shopping centre in Erie, Penn.

He hasn’t been seen since – and police say the only activity they’re aware of since then is a text message Hasan sent to a relative on Saturday.

Hasan was last known to be driving a black Honda HR-V, with the Ontario licence plate BPKT509. The Pennsylvania plate that was stolen had the number EZV1654.
