A Guelph police officer investigating a collision in the city’s north end was taken to hospital after possibly being exposed to fentanyl.

The crash occurred Sept. 27 at Speedvale Avenue and Woolwich Street.

Guelph police say officers took precautions after noticing a white powder in one of the vehicles involved in the collision, but developed symptoms that were concerning enough for them to be taken to hospital.

The officer was released from hospital later in the day.

A 50-year-old man has been charged with drug-impaired driving, drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and careless driving.
