MILTON, Ont. -- Two people are dead following a fiery single vehicle crash in the town of Milton, west of Toronto.
Halton Regional Police say a Nissan 350z sports car lost control on the James Snow Parkway Sunday afternoon and slammed into a light pole.
Police say the car caught fire and that responding officers worked to douse the flames while waiting for fire crews to arrive.
They say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle was treated by EMS personnel, then airlifted to a trauma centre where police say he later succumbed to his injuries.
Several police officers were also treated for smoke inhalation.
Investigators say they believe speed was likely a factor in the crash.
Two high school students killed in a horrific crash in Milton over the weekend have been identified by their peers.
The Twitter account @MiltonMustangs, which is run by students of Milton District High School, confirmed the identities of the 17-year-old males on Monday as Faruq Anani and Dylan Stephenson.
