Two Guelph women have been charged with theft after an alleged shoplifting incident at a grocery store.

According to police, the women were observed walking through the pharmacy and cosmetic aisles of the Zehrs store on Paisley Road, placing makeup packets in their purses.

The women then exited the store, entered a car and left the parking lot, at which point store security officers notified police.

A nearby officer conducting a speed-monitoring exercise saw the vehicle and stopped it.

The women, aged 24 and 25, will appear in court Feb. 15.
