Guelph woman arrested as part of investigation into multiple break-ins
A Guelph woman was arrested Tuesday morning as part of an investigation into multiple break-ins.
Guelph Police said an apartment on Waterloo Ave was broken into in late November after someone forced the sliding door open. The same unit was entered again a few days later and police said food was eaten out of the fridge. The tenant told police she believed her spare keys were stolen after the first break-in.
On Nov. 25, police said a suspect tried to get into the apartment a third time using the key but the locks had been changed. She was confronted by a tenant before running away.
On Tuesday morning, police found the suspect in a stairwell of the apartment building and she was arrested. Police said their investigation found that the same person was involved in a break-in on Sept. 19 at a home near Exhibition Park. In that incident, a home was entered through an unlocked door and personal belongings such as cigarettes, gift cards and clothes, were stolen.
A 43-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with three counts of breaking and entering, breaching probation and failing to attend court.
