Toronto Pig Save says more than 100 people showed up for a vigil outside a Burlington slaughterhouse where a truck carrying pigs crashed yesterday.

Approximately 40 of the about 180 pigs on the transport died when the truck crashed as it was turning onto a road beside Fearmans Pork plant.

Anita Krajnc, currently on trial for giving cool water to hot pigs en route to the same slaughterhouse last year, was charged with obstructing a peace officer after activists showed up at the crash site.

Toronto Pig Save says it planned to maintain the vigil until noon Thursday.
