Service begins next week on a pilot project bringing bus service to parts of Wilmot Township.
Starting April 25, Grand River Transit will operate a trial route running from The Boardwalk in Waterloo through the communities of Petersburg, Baden and New Hamburg.
Among the 14 stops on the route will be such local landmarks as the main intersection of Petersburg, Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School and the No Frills grocery store in New Hamburg.
The trial service will run only on weekdays, running the route three times in each direction in the morning, and four times in each direction in the afternoon.
A number of other stops, including the Wilmot Recreational Complex, will be available during daytime hours by placing a phone call.
The entire service will be re-evaluated after one year.
