A man who was once a psychiatrist at Cambridge Memorial Hospital has been charged with sexual assault and exploitation in connection with an incident dating back to 1994.

Allan Umar-Khitab, 74, is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Waterloo Regional Police say a man came forward with the allegations back in April.

Umar-Khitab was also accused of molesting five boys in 1999. The boys, aged 12 to 16, were his patients at Cambridge Memorial Hospital between 1989-1994. Umar-Khitab was charged with sexual assault, exploitation, interference and invitation to sexual touching.

In 2001 he pled guilty to professional misconduct in front of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. As a result, Umar-Khitab lost his license.
