Ayr remained under a flood warning Wednesday morning, although the Grand River Conservation Authority says the Nith River has already peaked in the community.
The peak occurred early Wednesday morning, and water levels are expected to recede over the course of the day – falling below the flooding threshold by late evening.
Upstream on the Nith, the flood warning for New Hamburg – which was put in place early Monday – has been ended, as water levels are no longer at the flooding threshold.
Elsewhere in the Grand River watershed, a flood warning remains in effect along the Conestogo River near St. Jacobs, with the low-level bridge on Three Bridges Road still closed.
The Grand itself peaked in Dunnville early Wednesday morning.
While discharges from reservoirs will be increased to empty out some of the water collected this week, no additional flooding is expected elsewhere in the watershed.
