A fire broke out in the attic of a Holstein home early Wednesday morning.

Wellington North Fire Services arrived just after 5 a.m. to the home on Grey Road 109. They could see smoke coming from the roof of the house.

They say the fire was quickly taken care of and damage was minimized.

A firefighter suffered an injury to their knee and was taken to hospital for treatment, and later released.

Fire officials are not sure what caused the fire, but say working smoke alarms helped keep damage to a minimum.

“If the alarms were not present, it may have been a different story,” said Fire Chief Dave Guilbault.

There is no estimate of the amount of damage the fire caused.
