Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are still closed following a fatal crash near Drumbo.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Friday, just east of the Drumbo Road exit, and involved three transport trucks.

One driver was killed in the crash, while a second was taken to hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.

The third driver refused treatment at the scene.

It was the second of two major crashes in the area Friday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m., an eastbound transport truck slammed into the centre median a short distance away, scattering debris across lanes on both sides of the highway.

Two of three eastbound lanes were closed due to that collision at the time of the three-truck crash.

“It’s very likely that traffic had slowed,” Oxford County OPP Const. Lisa Narancsik tells CTV News.

It is not believed any of the vehicles involved in either crash were carrying hazardous materials.

The identity of the victim has not been released, but OPP say they are from outside Ontario.

The highway was expected to remain closed until at least 8:30 p.m.
