KITCHENER -- Police swarmed a home in the Stanley Park neighbourhood on Thursday morning after reports of gunshots inside the residence, but investigators deemed there were no shots.

Now an investigation is underway into what led to the call in the first place.

It happened on Franklin Street North between Trafalgar and Shuh avenues just after 6 a.m. The police presence has since cleared, but earlier in the morning the area was filled with police asking people to stay away.

Officers and emergency response teams responded quickly, shutting down the area. It wasn't long before investigators determined there were no shots fired.

"The flashing lights through my bedroom window, so I got up and took a look naturally," remembered Krista Carter, who lives in the neighbourhood.

"Just lots of police, SUVs and then shortly after dogs, and some really big guns."

The call comes after a string of shootings throughout Waterloo Region this month, with the most recent on Monday.

In that case, a person went to hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police said that two groups had been in two different vehicles and fighting before shots were fired.

They said that Monday morning's shooting was targeted, and that they're still looking for a grey four-door Hyundai with damage to its passenger side.
