KITCHENER -- Loblaw says an employee at one of its Kitchener stores has tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19.

That store has been identified as the Real Canadian Superstore on Highland Road West.

In an email to CTV News, the company says they have “been working with the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased sanitization protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in the store.”

In addition, Loblaw says they have arranged for additional cleaning.

Their email also states that team members who were working closely with the employee are now self-isolating at home.

CTV News reached out to Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Waterloo Region's Medical Officer of Health, for comment. In an email she said: "Public Health does not report details of individual cases for privacy reasons. Should there be a situation where there is an increased risk to the general public or Public Health needs to ask the general public to self-identify as contacts, we will share more information in order to meet public health objectives such as contact tracing."

Loblaw says the employee's last day at the Highland Road location was on Sept. 21, and the store was informed of the test result on Sept. 24.
