A Brantford man is in custody after an alleged drug deal went bad.

Police were called to a home on Chatham Street near the city’s downtown around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, they found an injured 25-year-old man.

According to police, the victim had been at an apartment on nearby Wellington Street 15 minutes early to purchase crack cocaine.

The man allegedly attempted to pay for the drugs with folded pieces of coloured paper.

Once the man allegedly selling the drugs determined that the paper was not real money, police say he attacked the 25-year-old, causing slash wounds to his face and head.

The victim was treated immediately for serious injuries.

Nineteen-year-old Dice Wythe was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
