A man was airlifted to hospital Wednesday after a collision in Cambridge involving a transport truck and cube van.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. on Highway 8, between Morrision Road and Vanier Road.

Provincial police said the cube van struck the transport truck as it was backing up into a construction site.

The driver of the van was pinned under the truck's trailer for approximately 15 minutes before firefighters were able to pull him out.

OPP said he was then airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the transport truck was not hurt.

OPP are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

No word yet on any charges.
