At the Stratford courthouse the jury has started its deliberations in the second degree murder trial of Robert Rivet, a young Mitchell father.
Thirty-seven-day old Skyla Rivet suffered blunt force head trauma in her parents' Mitchell apartment on Jan. 14, 2010. Three days later the infant died in hospital.
Twenty-seven-year-old Rivet's lawyer argues it's possible the baby was injured when the mother, Amanda Buck, was holding her.
Buck has maintained that her daughter seemed healthy, and says Rivet, her common law husband, helped her care for her and was a good father.
The jury of three women and nine men were called back for further instructions after the Crown and defence lawyers asked the judge to clarify several points in his charge to the jury.
The jury could return any of three verdicts including; guilty of second degree murder, guilty of manslaughter or innocent.
