A woman was seriously hurt Wednesday when she was hit by a garbage truck while cycling on a rural road north of Listowel.
The collision occurred around 10 a.m., Harriston Road near Fordwich Line, just north of the community of Fordwich.
According to Huron County OPP, both the cyclist and the garbage truck were eastbound on Harriston when the collision occurred.
The force of the collision sent the cyclist – a 29-year-old woman who lives in Gorrie – into a ditch along the roadway.
Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Harriston remained closed for several hours.
