A decision by the St. Thomas police services board to order police cruisers from Ford has left some in the community fuming.

The board voted this week to purchase three 2013 Ford Police Interceptors manufactured at a plant in Illinois.

The decision comes a little more than two months after Ford shut down the Talbotville plant that made Crown Victorias and eliminated 12 hundred jobs.

Deputy Chief Darryl Pinnell says Ford and Chrysler responded to a tender to supply police cars, but the Chrysler vehicle was more expensive.
