A single vehicle crash on Sunday evening killed the 17-year-old driver, Lyndal Huber of Wellesley, and sent two 15-year-old passengers to hospital.

Huber was a student in the 'life and work program' at Elmira District Secondary School, which is designed for Mennonite students. He was expected to graduate this June. At noon his classmates in the program gathered for a moment of prayer.

Perth County OPP say shortly after 6:30 p.m. a westbound green 2002 Ford Taurus sedan lost control on Line 92 between Perth Road 140 and Road 146.

The vehicle entered the north ditch, struck a utility pole and then landed upright in the ditch, according to police.

Huber was pronounced dead at the scene and the two male passengers, including Huber's brother, were taken to Palmerston and District Hospital as a precaution, but they were uninjured.

The crash closed the road for over six hours as crews removed the vehicle and the OPP investigated the cause of the collision.

Perth County OPP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have seen the car before the accident westbound on Wellington Concession 12 or Line 92 to call 1-888-310-1122.
