More than 1,700 properties were left without electricity Monday morning due to a collision in Elmira.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m. on Arthur Street near Oriole Parkway.

According to Waterloo North Hydro, 1,744 properties lost power due to the collision. More than 1,100 of those properties had their service back by 10:30 a.m., with most of the others seeing their lights go back on a few minutes later.

Waterloo Regional Police reported that at least one person was injured in the collision, which involved a transport truck leaving the roadway and hitting a hydro pole.
