A man charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of Waterloo resident Jordan Gillis had a date in court Friday.

Tanvir Singh Padda of Brampton was charged in mid-November with criminal negligence causing death and failing to remain at the scene.

The arrest came almost a month after Gillis was found lying in the intersection of Austin Drive and Hazel Street in Waterloo on Oct. 20.

After weeks of searching, police traced the vehicle to a Brampton address.

Padda did not appear in court Friday. Rather, he was represented by legal staff.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2014.
