The Mounties say they've seized more than 1,100 suspected counterfeit MAC products from a Sarnia area salon and spa.

The items include lipstick, eyeliner, blush and other MAC make-up counterfeits that police say could cause harm to the public.

Investigators note that genuine cosmetic products are rigorously tested and must comply with Canadian law in order to be sold to the public.

Counterfeit makeup, however, is unregulated and may contain unknown chemicals and police say instances of allergic reactions and burns have been known to occur.
