A head-on collision involving a horse-drawn buggy and a pickup truck on Ament Line has injured two children, one seriously.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Monday southeast of the small community of Linwood.

According to investigators at the scene the buggy may have crossed the center line.

Waterloo Region police have confirmed that the two children, who were the only occupants in the buggy at the time of the crash, have been hurt.

A 13-year-old reportedly suffered life-threatening head injuries while a nine-year-old was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The seriously injured child was airlifted to hospital.

There is no word on the condition of the pickup driver.

The horse involved was killed as a result of the collision.
