A 22-year-old man is in critical condition in a London hospital after an alleged stabbing in Stratford, and his brother is charged with attempted murder.

Police say the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Home Street in the city’s south end.

John Pushelberg, 20, was arrested not far from the residence and charged with attempted murder of his brother, Keith Pushelberg.

"It's under investigation. Investigators are on scene working the case. It's too early to say what happened," said Insp. Sam Theocharis.

Neighbours say they heard a loud, profane argument coming from the three-storey home.

“I was shocked by what I heard,” Belinda Ruby tells CTV.

Fifteen minutes later, says Ruby, five police cruisers were at the house and a woman was on the lawn.

“She had blood on her hands, on her arms, her clothes,” she says.

At that point, Ruby says, she saw a man pulled from the building and carried onto a stretcher by EMS workers, who were keeping pressure on a chest wound.

John Pushelberg made a brief court appearance Wednesday. He remains in custody pending a June 3 bail hearing.
