Fire consumed a barn in Blandford-Blenheim Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters from three stations were called to a farm on Township Road 13, west of Plattsville near the community of Bright, around 3:45 p.m.

They arrived to find the barn engulfed in flames.

“She was just a ball of red,” said deputy fire chief Ron Behm.

Crews focused their attention on ensuring the fire didn’t spread to any of the other buildings on the property – a particularly difficult challenge due to high winds.

By late afternoon, equipment was being brought in to knock down the barn so firefighters could extinguish the flames.

The barn did hold livestock in the past but had nothing of value in it on Thursday, firefighters said.

Information on the cause of the fire was not immediately available.
