For the third federal election in a row, Brantford-Brant was solidly in the blue corner.

The riding, which was known as Brant in previous elections, once again elected Phil McColeman of the Conservatives as its representative.

McColeman’s top challengers were Liberal candidate Danielle Takacs and NDP representative Marc Laferriere.

With 233 of 261 polls reporting, McColeman had 22,599 votes, ahead of Takacs with 16,614 and Laferriere with 13,384.

Also on the ballot were Green Party candidate Kevin Brandt, Libertarian hopeful Rob Ferguson and perennial independent candidate John Turmel.

The most recent change to electoral boundaries saw a small portion of Brant County ceded to the Cambridge riding.

Brantford-Brant contains the rest of the county, as well as the entirety of Brantford and the Six Nations and New Credit reserves.
