An 11-year-old boy is dead following a collision involving a pickup truck and horse and buggy, west of Kenilworth.

County of Wellington OPP say the incident occurred on Friday, at 11:21 P.M. on Sideroad 7 W, approximately 1.9 kilometres west of Concession 7 in Wellington North Township.

Police say 19-year-old Benjamin Peters was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup, and was travelling eastbound on Sideroad 7. Peters did not see the horse and buggy, and struck the buggy's rear.

The three occupants of the buggy were ejected as a result of the collision. The buggy was driven by a 15-year-old Mennonite boy from Kenilworth. The passengers were his two brothers, a 12-year-old and 11-year old boy.

All three were taken to Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.

The youngest brother, Landis Martin was later transferred to McMaster Hospital in Hamilton with major injuries. He died early Saturday morning.

The two older boys are currently listed with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither Peters nor his 16-year-old male passenger were injured in the collision.

Martin is the third 11-year-old boy to be killed in an accident in the past month.
