An extensive search for a missing Cambridge man, who was reported missing Saturday night, has come to an end.

The body of 26-year old Blair Riddell was found in the Grand River north of Paris on Sunday afternoon.

Police say Riddell was canoeing with a friend, when their boat hit a rock and capsized around 8 p.m. The friend was able to get the canoe upright and swam to shore. He thought his friend had made it to the east side of the river.

Riddell’s disappearance wasn’t reported until 3 a.m.

OPP and fire crews organized a search of the river and surrounding areas. They found his body around 3 p.m.

Police say Riddell and his friend had been drinking and were not wearing life jackets.
