The man police believe deliberately set a fire that left a Guelph woman with serious injuries now faces a charge of attempted murder.
Guelph Police say the charge was laid Wednesday against Francisco Silveri, who had previously been charged with arson causing bodily harm, possession of incendiary materials and uttering death threats.
The charges all stem from a fire at a Greengate Road townhouse on Jan. 31.
Paula McGladrey, 40, remained in critical conditions as of Wednesday due to injuries suffered in the fire.
Her son was also hurt, but later released from hospital.
Silveri’s next court appearance is scheduled for next week.
