Multi-media Journalist, CTVNewsAtlantic.ca
Darryl Reeves is a commercial producer, shooter and editor at CTV Atlantic based out of Sydney.
While growing up in Sydney, N.S., Darryl’s passion for television developed at an early age. Mentored by his uncle, the legendary CJCB and ATV anchor and reporter Bill Jessome, Darryl began working in the industry right out of high school.
Darryl’s decades-long career began in 1978 when he joined the production department at CTV Atlantic, known as ATV at the time, as a studio camera operator and commercial switcher.
He had a brief stint working in the newsroom, and then returned to production in 1987 as a camera operator and editor.
Darryl took on the role of commercial producer in the 2000s, a role he holds to this day.
Throughout his career in television, Darryl has covered major events like the 1988 Calgary Olympics, the McDonald’s murders in Sydney River, the overturning of Donald Marshall Jr.’s wrongful murder conviction, hurricanes, flooding, coal mining explosions, and elections.
Darryl also directs Mass For Shut-ins and has been a long-time volunteer for the Christmas Daddies telethon.
His role now includes producing feature stories for CTV News at Five. A proud Cape Bretoner, Darryl is passionate about using his skillset to tell the stories of the people and places he grew up around.
