Ayr remains a fast-growing community – and some residents say it’s starting to grow a little too fast.
The latest growth is a proposal to build 61 townhouses on an empty plot of land at the corner of Greenfield Road and Northumberland Street.
Entrances to the complex would be installed on both the Greenfield and Northumberland sides.
Charlotte Moore lives nearby, and says she has concerns about the proposed new development.
“We want sound planning, because it’s growing so fast,” she said in an interview.
Chief among Moore’s concerns is traffic congestion, particularly as the intersection already houses a new grocery store and Tim Hortons.
She says she’d rather see more commercial development in the area.
North Dumfries Township organized a meeting for Monday night to gauge residents’ reaction to the proposal.
