Six people with ties to our area have been arrested as part of a massive police investigation into online child exploitation.

The Ontario Provincial Police released details Thursday about the province-wide operation, which involved police agencies from around the province, as well as the Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

In total, 80 people are facing charges after authorities executed 174 search warrants, including six local residents:

  • A 42-year-old Burford resident, charged with making and accessing child porn
  • A 67-year-old man from Cambridge, charged with two counts of making child porn available, and one count apiece of possessing and accessing such images
  • A 50-year-old man from Stratford, charged with two counts of possessing child porn and one count of accessing it
  • A 46-year-old man from Guelph, charged with possessing, accessing and making available child porn
  • A 29-year-old man from Woodstock, charged with distributing and possessing child porn
  • A 34-year-old Brantford resident, charged with possessing and accessing child porn

Police say they have identified 20 victims in the case.
