Five Cambridge residents face drug trafficking charges following a series of police raids in Cambridge and Ayr.

Waterloo Regional Police say five search warrants were executed Tuesday – four at homes in the Elgin Street and Avenue Road area of Cambridge, and one on Patterson Drive in Ayr.

Specifically, the homes in Cambridge are located on Tassie Lane, Frobisher Court, Hilltop Drive and Stonecairn Drive.

Seized from the homes, police say, were 24 ounces of cocaine and 21 ounces of marijuana, as well as a loaded handgun, a conducted energy weapon, ammunition, bear spray, a hunting knife and $530 in cash.

As a result, five men were taken into custody, where they remained as of Thursday morning.

Charged with trafficking cocaine and possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking are 26-year-old Bill Georgaras (six counts apiece), 24-year-old Benn Beffort (three counts apiece), 24-year-old Edward Hatch (three counts apiece), 40-year-old Antonio Americano (one count apiece) and 24-year-old Kevin Puim (one count apiece).

Police say they expect to make further arrests.
