Police say among the $40,000 worth of items stolen from a home in St. George over the holidays was a valuable vintage guitar.

It’s unclear exactly when the break-in happened because the homeowner was away between Dec. 20 and Jan. 7.

The suspect or suspects forced their way into the residence through a window.

Once inside the home, police say a number of items were removed, including a Nintendo Wii gaming system, cash, personal documents and a cream-coloured 1963 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar.

The guitar previously belonged to Luther Allison, a popular blues musician from Arkansas and is valued at $35,000.

Also taken were a cherry red Gibson EBO bass guitar and stereo equipment.
