KITCHENER -- Anyone who purchased a lottery ticket in Cambridge might want to check their numbers soon.

According to a Thursday news release from the OLG, a ticket worth $1 million dollars that was sold in the city remains unclaimed.

The OLG said there are two weeks left to claim the Lotto 6/49 guaranteed $1 million prize from the April 15, 2020 draw.

The winning ticket number is 45562641-02.

They know where and when the ticket was sold. The only thing they don't know is who bought it.

“So we need that person or persons, because it could be a group, to come forward and when we deem them the rightful owner or owners, we will give them $1 million,” said Tony Bitonti, a representative for OLG.

Players must match all nine numbers to win the prize. Players are reminded they have one year from the draw date to claim their prize.

Just last week, a Tavistock couple discovered they won the $50 million Lotto Max jackpot, with a ticket that was sitting in their cupholder for a week.

As of Jan. 12, there were 32 unclaimed prizes across Ontario. Unclaimed prizes ranging from $10,000 up to the $1 million ticket in Cambridge and a prize of just over $100,000 in Guelph.

After two to three months, if a ticket of $10,000 or more is not claimed, it gets posted online.

Typically, the winner has a year from the date it was purchased to cash in. But OLG has said if there are extenuating circumstances that prevented you from claiming your prize, those factors can be considered if the deadline is missed.

‘Every year we pay 99 per cent of those outstanding prizes,” said Bitonti. “Some of the smaller prizes do go unclaimed unfortunately.”

If you think you have the winning ticket, but it went through the washing machine. According to Bitonti, you can still claim your prize.

"We kind of have a little bit of a CSI lab in our lottery department where we can reconstruct damaged tickets," he said.

OLG says players can check their tickets on OLG.ca, use the OLG lottery app, or call their WIN! Line at 1-866-891-8946.

All unclaimed tickets in Ontario can be found here.

The owner(s) of winning tickets are then asked to fill in the back portion, sign it and contact the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098.
