Charges are pending following a collision involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 403, Brant County OPP say.

Police say they were called shortly after 12:30 p.m. regarding a wrong-way driver on the highway, near Middle Townline Road west of Burford.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from Hamilton, was allegedly heading westbound in the eastbound lanes, colliding with a second vehicle and forcing a third off the road.

The escapade allegedly came to an end when the driver left the highway and ended up in the ditch, hitting a tree.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Nobody else was injured.

Highway 403 was closed in the area until around 2:30 p.m.
