A 62-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder in Woodstock.
The alleged attack took place at the Chieftan Apartments on Chieftan Street. Police were called to the scene around 5:30 am on Friday.
The alleged victim in the case is an 85-year-old relative, believed by neighbours to be the alleged attacker's mother. However, police have not yet confirmed the relationship.
Emergency crews found the elderly woman suffering from non-life threatening injuries. She is currently recovering in hospital and expected to return home shortly.
Leah Bank, 62, has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a weapon. Police have not disclosed what the weapon was.
Neighbours say the area is relatively calm, and many were surprised to see a heavy police presence.
"Everybody's friendly. It's very safe, I feel very safe here," neighbour Joyce Cox told CTV News.
Bank is being held in custody and is due in court Monday.
