Police are trying to piece together what led to a collision which left one person with serious injuries.

The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Branchton and Maple Manor roads in North Dumfries, just north of the community of Branchton.

It involved a car and a dump truck. Waterloo Regional Police say the southbound car hit the back wheels of the dump truck, which was westbound.

A 17-year-old female passenger in the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries, while the driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

Police say they expect to lay charges, and want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles in the area before they collided.
