WestJet will once again run flights between the Region of Waterloo International Airport and Orlando this year – just not quite as many as they did this past winter.

Airport officials announced Monday that the non-stop seasonal flights first introduced last December will be returning for another year.

Instead of starting in mid-December, as they did in 2015, the next batch of flights won’t begin until Jan. 24.

The flights will run through the last week of April, as they did this year.

All flights are scheduled for Tuesdays, with flights arriving in Waterloo Region at 12:20 p.m. and leaving at 3:50 p.m.

Monday’s announcement came on the same day NewLeaf Travel’s first flight set off from John C. Munro International Airport in Hamilton.

Billing itself as a low-cost alternative to major airlines like WestJet, NewLeaf is flying between 11 Canadian cities.

While its fares run as low as $79, the carrier does charge for everything from seat selection to in-flight drinks.
